FAQ

What is a cat café?

A cat café is a regular café where cat-loving individuals are able to purchase food and drink.  What makes a cat café different is that along side this café is a cat lounge, which is an easily accessible yet separate, closed-off section that is full of happy, healthy, and relaxed cats available for adoption.  Patrons of the café may watch them play from the comfort of the café area or choose to pay a small fee to enter and hang out in the cat lounge area to mingle with these felines.

Where are you located and what are your hours?

We are located next to the St Augustine historic district, at the corner of Carrera St and Ponce de Leon Blvd (3 blocks north of the San Sebastian Winery); just a short walk from Flagler College and St George Street shopping.

  • Address: 112 N Ponce de Leon Blvd Unit A, St Augustine, FL 32084

  • Hours: Su: 12p-6p, M: 10a-6p, Tu: Closed, W-Th: 10a-6p, F-Sa: 9a-8p

Is onsite parking available?

Yes, there is free onsite parking available. Also, there is free parking available on nearby streets (e.g., Carrera St, Malaga St).

Are you a cat shelter?

No. While we do partner with local cat rescues and serve as a foster home showcasing these felines for adoption, we do not accept cats from individuals. We just do not have the capacity nor are we permitted to serve as a shelter. Please do not abandon animals here as this is illegal, F.S. 828.13(3). If you are looking for a cat rescue, please contact us and we will be happy to put you in touch with one of the many rescues in the St Augustine area.

Do you need volunteers?

Always! If you are interested in volunteering in our cat lounge or with our cat rescue partner, Feline Canopy of Care, please visit their website at fcocinc.org to fill out a volunteer application.

Why is there a fee to visit a cat café?

Actually, it is free to visit the café area and view the cats, all while sipping on your wine or latte. However, in order to help defray the costs of housing and caring for the cats, there is a small fee to access the cat lounge to spend time and interact with these wonderful felines. For one hour access to the cat lounge, there will be an admission fee of $11/person plus tax. Children, under 2 years of age, will be admitted free of charge.

Are reservations required for the cat lounge?

No, but they are recommended. Walk-ins are welcome; however, space is limited, so we encourage reservations for the cat lounge to ensure you have no waiting upon your arrival.  Reservations can be made online 24/7 and can be modified or canceled up to 2 hours prior to the appointment.

Can I bring my own cat?

Please leave your cat at home as we have plenty! Unlike certain dog friendly establishments, this is not a local watering hole for you and your pet. The resident cats have been carefully selected for human interaction and socialization with one another. Outsiders have a tendency to disrupt the social order.

What if I am not looking to adopt?

No worries.  Most people are just looking to spend quality time with some wonderful felines, all while sipping on their mocha.  Whether considering adopting or not, every visit to a cat café supports the cause of finding permanent homes for these rescued felines.

I would like to adopt a cat, what is the process?

All cats at the Witty Whisker Cat Cafe are provided by Feline Canopy of Care, a local, non-profit, cat rescue. Anyone interested in adopting a cat must go through the Feline Canopy of Care’s adoption process. Please visit their website a fcocinc.org to fill out the online adoption application.

How much is the cat adoption fee?

Please visit fcocinc.org, our cat rescue’s website for more information. All cats are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, treated for fleas, and microchipped. The entire adoption fee goes to Feline Canopy of Care to help offset the cost of veterinary care.
